Reverend Deacon Rodney A Beckford is a native of Harlem who was nurtured and educated at Resurrection Parish, married and presently serves at St. Charles and was called to ministry at All Saints Parish. He has held many positions with community-based nonprofit institutions, most recently Harlem Congregations for Community Improvement Inc (HCCI). Deacon Beckford’s professional career over 45 years started in advertising as a Senior Media Research Analyst, managed eight individual units for the McDonald’s Corporation, was Associate Director of Dietary in a 500-bed rehabilitation residence, Executive Chief Steward for the United Nations Catering, the operations director for a USDA food manufacture and the Regional Sales Manager for a national beverage manufacturer now owned by Nestlé’s.
Deacon Beckford was ordained a Permanent Catholic Deacon in 2002 and was assigned to serve the Harlem Vicariate at St. Charles Borromeo Church. He and his wife, Gail Barbara Daniels-Beckford married at St. Charles Borromeo in 1979 and have two daughters, Danielle Beckford and Adia Beckford-Ravenell, and most recently a grandson, Ethan Owen Ravenell. Deacon Beckford is the Director of the Lieutenant Joseph P Kennedy Jr Center in Harlem for Catholic Charities NY since 2010 and continues to answer his call to be a servant.
